Carmo & Silvério has a varied offer of fruit and veg of high quality year round, it has cold storage for more than 2000 tons, which allows us to cater to the markets needs continually.
The most frequent vegetables in greenhouses in the west and the north are usually tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, flat bean and lettuce. In open field production we mainly have butternut squash and broccoli. Regarding fruits we have pear, apples, plums, peach, nectarines and passion fruit.
Integrated Production
This environment and health friendly process is an innovative strategy in the production of fresh produce that fights pests using their natural enemies, minimizing the use of pesticides and other chemicals.
Biological Control
This pest and disease control system certifies that the crops were protected by using the pests natural enemies and that no pesticides were used.
This way pests such as tomatoes white fly and thrips that attack peppers and cucumbers can be avoided. The produce grows healthy and with no deformities, meaning they can be commercialized with no danger which is of interest to all parties involved.
Fruit Calendar
Fruit is harvested in the summer and stored in cold storage to be soled over a longer period.
Vegetable Calendar
Vegetables are picked daily, packed and/or stored at the pack house and distribuited to several markets.
